Matthew Colby, Assistant Superintendent, SAU 24
HENNIKER, NH - December 6, 2024 - School Administrative Unit 24 is pleased to announce that Matthew Colby has been appointed as Assistant Superintendent, effective July 1, 2025. With a distinguished 23-year career in SAU 24, Colby brings a wealth of experience, deep community ties, and a proven track record of educational leadership to this new role.
Colby began his career as a Social Studies teacher at John Stark Regional High School, where he also served as Department Coordinator. He later transitioned into school administration, holding positions as Assistant Principal and Principal at Henniker Community School, where he has led the school to achieve significant milestones, including the New Hampshire School of Excellence Award in 2022.
Throughout his tenure in SAU 24, Colby has played an integral role in shaping the district’s educational vision. His leadership contributions include the development of the SAU 24 Portrait of a Learner, spearheading competency-based education initiatives, and overseeing critical projects like the SAU 24 Professional Growth Master Plan. His expertise spans project management, instructional leadership, and fostering collaborative educational environments.
Colby’s educational background includes a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in District Leadership from Southern New Hampshire University and certification as a New Hampshire School Superintendent. He is also a graduate of NHSAA’s Granite State Leadership Academy (GSLA), where he honed his skills in systems thinking and restorative practices.
